3rd Annual Peace March
L-R: Peace March Student Committee (SBA), Whittney Elmer, Darlyn Clark, Kennedy Macatuno, Principal Dexter Fullo, Britney Quenga, Samantha Dela Cruz, Arvin Dimaquibo, and Superintendent Jon Fernandez
On February 8th, BMS had its 3rd Annual Peace March with the theme "Increase the Peace." Students walked onto neighboring elementary schools, Maria Ulloa and Wettengel Elementary, to spread the message of peace. Thereafter, students regrouped at our school campus to listen to winning teams' Bully Free songs. We were extremely fortunate and thankful for Mrs. Lynn Sablan and the Vivace singers, from John F. Kennedy High School who performed several numbers relative to the theme of peace.
Our Superintendent Jon Fernandez accompanied us on the walk and stayed back to listen to all of our young talent.
It was a splendid day, indeed! Click on the photo above to see more from the Peace March!

EPIC Club Visits Guma San JoseOn February 4, members of EPIC (Everything is Possible in Christ) Club walked from the school campus to Guam San Jose, where they experienced what it was like to give back to the community. They donated canned goods, toiletries, clothing, and other necessities. They also prayed with San Jose residents and sang a few songs for them. EPIC Club Advisors accompanied the students. They are: Mr. Batangan, Ms. Cuenco, Mrs. Pineda, Mrs. Togawa, Mr. DeRosas, and Mr. Manalang. A former BMS teacher, Mr. Mark Benavente also accompanied the club members and offered a inspiration message to the people of Guam San Jose.
“It was a really good experience because we get to help people that are less fortunate than us. Just to see them smile made me cry when we got back (to school). Our teacher told us that there was a woman there who went up to her as were about to leave and said, ‘Thank you. We didn’t know that people still loved us’.” – Whittney Elmer, EPIC Club Member |
BMS Donates Canned GoodsIn conjunction with the schools parent-family community outreach program, 13 eighth graders from GMT helped lead a campus-wide canned food drive. As a result, more than 650 cans of food, roughly $2000, were donated to Kamalen Karidat.
Blue dragons won the overall competition, giving up more than 150 cans. Two sixth grade teams, Thunder birds and Incredible Dolphins, added 109 cans each to tie for the sixth grade victory. All of the teams did an awesome job and Deacon Tenorio of Kamalen Karidat thanked the kids for remembering those who are less fortunate as the holidays approach. |

We Remember: 9/11 Flag Raising Ceremony
BMS held a flag-raising ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 11, commemorating the 11th year since the attacks to the United States. Our flag was raised and the taps was played by special civilian volunteers and we were fortunate to have several men from GFD and GPD join us, too. We honor those who lost their lives that day, reflect on the perseverance of families left behind, and give thanks to those who continue to serve - at home and abroad. We will never forget!
